A true food challenge awaits for those who can handle the heat at The Pizza Project this month with the pizzeria’s limited-time Spicy Hot Pizza (HKD180), up for ordering – if you dare – until Apr. 30.

Taking a “heat ladder” approach, this cheese-free pizza pie (though cheese can be added if requested, as above) features six slices of escalating heat intensities, each with its own sauce and toppings, beginning with the tame sriracha at 1,800–2,000 Scoville heat units (SHU).

The pizza then ventures to spicier and spicier territory with the chipotle (2,500–3,000 SHU), Mexican green sauce (4,500–5,500 SHU), Tabasco habanero (7,000–8,000 SHU), and XX peri-peri (175,000–200,000 SHU) slices.

The final and deadliest slice, coming in a mighty 500,000–1,000,000 SHU, is headlined by the Trinidad scorpion pepper, known for its intense, lingering burn.

We recommend having several glasses of cold milk on standby for this one!
