With a total length of 67 metres, stuffed full of straw and incense sticks, the Tai Hang Fire Dragon dates back all the way to 1880, when Tai Hang was just a small Hakka village. Today, the tradition continues with three days of celebrations over Mid-Autumn Festival. This year’s festivities run from Sunday, 23 September until Tuesday, 25 September 2018, with the Fire Dragon performance running from approximately 8:15–10pm.

There are plenty of restaurants offering hungry festival-goers a vast variety of indulgences, but we’ve got our eye on Elementary’s “takeaway tasties”. During the three-day festival, the restaurant will be serving up poutine topped with oxtail gravy, blue cheese and runny egg ($50) as well as salted egg yolk ice cream sandwiched between two chocolate chip cookies ($38) through their takeaway window.
