Is there such a thing as health-conscious indulgent sweets? A new pop-up in The Landmark, aptly named The Cakery, strives to answer the question. Created by Shirley Kwok, who left her high-flying career in finance to step into the kitchen, The Cakery uses premium organic ingredients such as goji berries, chia seeds, Chinese dates, raw honey and Himalayan pink salt to give traditional recipes a nouveau, health-conscious spin.

The pop-up offers a wide selection of cakes, cake pops and cupcakes, and many of these options are gluten-free, wheat-free, and dairy-free. We’re not saying that these in-the-moment, catchall phrases necessarily equate to healthfulness, but The Cakery certainly offers an alternative to traditional baked goods.

Some tempting flavours we are keen to sink our teeth into include Double Date ($36), a low sugar cupcake which gets most of its sweetness from sticky dates, and East meets West ($36), a goji berry chocolate cupcake accented with Himalayan pink salt, and baked with organic cane sugar. The pop-up is currently at The Landmark until July 5th, and will be followed by a new retail store on Hong Kong Island in the upcoming months.
