In dining blowout terms, Easter may not rank as high as Thanksgiving and Christmas, but it does have one thing in particular going for it: loads and loads of sweets. Who doesn’t remember hunting for choccy Easter eggs as a kid? What about Cadbury Creme Eggs, jellybeans and neon-hued Marshmallow Peeps? This year, we’ll be balancing all that sweetness with a meal at one of these spots:
Alchemy
We were saddened by the loss of Chef Pascal Breant earlier this year, but Alchemy’s innovative weekend brunch showcasing French-inspired small plates has fortunately remained unchanged, overseen by Chef Ray Chiu, who worked alongside Chef Breant for more than 20 years. The EGGCellent eight-course Easter brunch will be offered on 14–16 April from 12:30–3:30pm (last orders at 1:30pm) – priced at an extremely tidy $368 a head, to include an Ayala Champagne cocktail. Highlights include seared foie gras with Calvados, apple and toasted brioche, sea bass with fondant carrot, tomato confit and crab roe butter and Valrhona chocolate delice. Free-flow Ayala champers for an additional $350.

Cocotte
Lots of tempting dishes grace Cocotte’s French-inspired à la carte Easter brunch menu (14–17 April), from strawberry and chocolate pancakes ($100) to the cutely named Two Eggs and his Minions ($110), featuring two eggs any style with roasted cherry tomatoes, new potatoes and bacon. If you’ve spent your holiday weekend boozing it up (no judgment here), the Hangover Set ($250) sounds like a spot-on cure: a Bloody or Virgin Mary, shot of espresso, smoked salmon bagel and Two Eggs and his Minions. Free-flow champers, Prosecco, wines and soft drinks (hot and cold) can be added for $390/person for two hours. At 1pm each day over the holiday weekend, an Easter egg hunt and magician await.

Crafted 852
Get your hands dirty with Crafted 852’s Easter brunch (15 and 16 April, 12–3pm: $300/adult and $150/child), where it’s all about waffles paired with artisanal teas, coffee and fresh juices. First you’ll make your own waffles (topping as you please – we’re always fans of the simple-is-beautiful strawberries ’n’ cream combo), then it’s time for Easter egg hunting and cookie and blown-egg decorating. Eiffel Bistro
Go French this year with Eiffel Bistro’s ooh-la-la four-course Easter dinner menu ($388/person; from 6pm 14–17 April). It includes fish consommé and marinated mackerel to start, a choice of slow-cooked rabbit leg or confit sole fillet for the main and a classic lemon tart for afters.

The Envoy
This elegant colonial-style British restaurant will offer an à la carte Easter brunch menu from 14–17 April, with Chef Chetan Kohli serving up dishes such as herbal tea devilled eggs ($118) and steak and eggs ($218). The Envoy’s dinner menu, also available 14–17 April, celebrates springtime with dishes including braised New Zealand lamb shank ($258) and carrot and blackberry ‘horns’ ($88) for dessert. From 12–8pm on the long Easter weekend, daily drink specials will be served for 20% off on the terrace – and there’s an Easter Dinosaur cocktail ($108) that’s already taken our fancy: made with vodka, Godiva chocolate liqueur, milk, a Horlicks ice cream ball, Milo, mini M&M’s and Maltesers. Feast
Feast’s slap-up semi-buffet Easter menu is priced at $328 per person for brunch and $528 per person for dinner from 14–17 April (kids aged 12 or under get 50% off). Appetisers, including freshly shucked oysters and king crab legs, and desserts (check out those adorable Easter cupcakes at the top) will be presented buffet style, with main courses such as slow-cooked beef tenderloin, grilled sea bass and roast rack of lamb served à la carte. The Easter Bunny will be in the house during brunch and dinner on 15–16 April.

FRITES
Belgian beer specialist and restaurant FRITES is renowned for catering to little ones on holidays, and Easter is no exception. This year’s Easter party is set for Saturday, 15 April, with entertainment galore including a magic show, egg hunt and best-dressed competitions. From 14–16 April at 2pm, get your kids primed for an Easter craft followed by some good, old-fashioned hunting. Standard à la carte and kids’ menus available.

We’re fans of Kaum’s plentiful brunch ($395/per person) on any weekend of the year, but on Easter weekend (14–16 April), the Indonesian eatery is going the extra mile by adding some special holiday dishes to their repertoire. Free-flowing small plates include gulai telor dengan roti jala – soft-boiled egg and aubergine in curry sauce, served with rolled egg net bread – while iga kambing panggang madu pedas dan nasi minyak – pan-fried spicy honey-marinated lamb chops served with spiced rice – is a standout main course option. On Easter Sunday, kids can participate in a fun range of activities with Linus & The Feel Good Factory such as making bunny and chick paper hats.

Lily & Bloom
The whole family will be thanking you with this one. From 14–16 April, the Easter brunch features all the usual L&B goodies – seafood on ice, charcuterie and salads, made-to-order omelettes, a US prime rib station, unlimited serves of American brekkie favourites like blueberry pancakes and corned beef hash and eggs and a dedicated kids’ corner – with some Easter specials in place. Think Easter eggs and choccy bunnies, plus an Easter egg hunt with adults-only prizes such as dining vouchers and bottles of bubbly. Seating times: 12–3pm on Good Friday and 11am–1pm/1:30–4pm on Saturday and Sunday. Price for adults: $420 a head or $520 to include free-flow drinks.

This is a great option for those looking to chill at home during the holiday weekend, with this well-stocked Italian market offering a range of traditional Italian Easter specialities including colomba di Pasqua ($175; a dove-shaped cake similar to panettone with nuts and candied peel), Domori chocolates and the Italian liqueur Liquori di Amerigo, available in a variety of flavours.

MyHouse
MyHouse’s Easter family lunch on 15 and 16 April sounds like the perfect way to please both grown-ups and young’uns with a price tag of only $398 for adults and $78 for kids. Sharing platters of Italian-style appetisers such as fried zucchini flowers and burrata with spring veggies will get things started, before moving on to crowd-pleasing bigger plates like caramelised Australian lamb ribs and slow-roasted US rib-eye and a sweet ending of chocolate and hazelnut pudding. Kids’ choices include mini pizzas and chicken schnitzel. Eclectic tunes and a chilled vibe complete the Easter experience at one of our Wanchai faves.

Head to this gastronomic temple with a view for brunch on 14–16 April (12–3:30pm). Priced at $598 per person, we recommend splurging the extra $88 for a serving of roast rack of lamb, which screams Easter dining. Brunch offerings include soft-boiled eggs with black truffle, homemade tonarelli with rabbit ragu and traditional Italian Easter cake. All guests who book for 14 April will be gifted with complimentary free-flow Prosecco.

Italy is the theme for Spasso’s Easter brunch (15–16 April, 11:30am–3:30pm), showcasing a lavish spread featuring such classic Italian Easter dishes as torta Pasqualina from Liguria – an Easter tart made of Swiss chard – artichoke and ricotta pie from Lazio, fava bean focaccia from Sardinia, lamb meatballs in a tomato and thyme sauce from Calabria and roasted baby goat with myrtle leaves and black olives from Sardinia.
