Open for just about a month, this new branch of Crêpe Delicious – the international crêpe brand that arrived in Hong Kong three years ago, first coming to MOKO in Mongkok – was nearly full when we arrived for our tasting at 4pm on a Monday. So they already seem to be on to a good thing.

The two-story eatery is laid-back and inviting, with a grab-and-go homemade gelato counter and bar seating on the ground floor and a handful of comfy booths upstairs.

If heaven forbid you’re not into crêpes, the extensive menu has something for everyone – salads, pasta dishes, puff pizzas made with puff pastry, hearty mains and gelato shakes and desserts that are an Instagrammer’s dream. All the dishes we sampled were generous in portion and affordably priced, making it a particularly recommended spot for families (kids will be head over heels for the shakes above all).

Pink Lady gelato shake ($58): you’ve got to order one of the eatery’s pretty-as-a-picture gelato shakes. The Pink Lady is strawberry flavoured and was lighter in taste and not as thick as a typical American-style milkshake, so you won’t feel as guilty indulging in one alongside your crêpe.

Crab & avocado stack ($108): surprisingly, this turned out to be our favourite dish of the meal! Crab and avocado are a classic creamy combination for good reason. The chopped tomato topping added freshness to the dish.

Big Feast crêpe ($118): this newly introduced savoury crêpe is filled with braised BBQ pulled pork, butter lettuce and red onion slices. We liked the mash-up of flavours but wish the filling had not been lukewarm when it arrived to our table. The crêpe itself was thicker and chewier than its authentic French counterparts.

Sous-vide beef cheek with mashed potato ($188): this is a lovely new main dish that’s perfect for sharing. The tender beef cheek was butter soft, and the mashed potato was as creamy as it should be but was a tad underseasoned – more salt, please!

Caramel Garden crêpe ($88): another new addition, this sweet crêpe showcases a cinnamon-laced apple filling with thick vanilla custard, topped with caramel sauce and caramelised walnuts. Caramel and apple is another match made in heaven, so it’s hard to go wrong with this combo, though we had hoped for a more pronounced cinnamon flavour (cinnamon fanatics we are!).

Verdict

There’s a lot to recommend about Crêpe Delicious, with the varied menu and affordable pricing at the top of the list. A great spot to rest your weary feet pre- or post-shopping, even better if you have kiddos in tow.
