The Baker & The Bottleman

This is a very special opportunity to taste the baked goodness offered up at Simon Rogan’s The Baker & The Bottleman. Highlights of the British pastries, savoury snacks and sweets featured in the charming tea set include mini fish burger (a refined take on the fish-finger sarnie beloved by the Brits), sausage roll and classic scones slathered with clotted cream and strawberry jam.

Over at Gallery, a Mother’s Day Afternoon Treat will be served, featuring creative East-meets-West sweets and savouries, with additional live stations at the weekend.

The hotel’s panoramic harbour views add to the sense of occasion.

The menu starts with a choice of Spargel Salat, a white asparagus salad levelled up with either Victoria Island smoked salmon or Black Forest ham, or Hering “Hausfrauen Art” (pictured above), a beautiful plate of smoked herring with gherkin, onion and green apple alongside crispy rye bread. The second course features white asparagus soup paired with seared Hokkaido scallop. Veal schnitzel or pan-fried wolffish are the two main options, ending with a dessert that’s near and dear to Chef Find’s heart – rhubarb compote with hazelnut crumble and vanilla ice cream – bringing back childhood memories of his own mother.

INK’s Mother’s Day offering is more breakfast than brunch, but we know first-hand that most mums are up at the crack of dawn with their little ones. With all the pastries and cured meats made in-house, the al-fresco three-course set menu is inclusive of a Gosset Brut Bellini champagne cocktail, plus the aforementioned freshly baked pastries, first in the form of cheese and asparagus quiche, milk bun topped with smoked ocean trout and lemon curd and and mini croissants with apricot jam, Mum can then indulge in a choice of main (perhaps the shredded duck confit, smashed avocado on sourdough or Wagyu steak bavette), ending with another duo of scrumptious baked goods – mango danish and milk-glazed matcha and mascarpone doughnut. Post-brekkie, check out the new Joan Miró exhibit at the Hong Kong Museum of Art next door, to which the eatery is connected.

The premium salumi and cheeses include 24-month-aged prosciutto, burrata and fresh Mandara buffalo mozzarella. Alongside, mums can indulge in LucAle’s signature brunch-only pizzetta, which combines the texture and flavours of focaccia into a pizza, and a selection of spring salads, from an Italian octopus salad with potato and French beans in a rocket and pesto dressing to a salad of mache and beetroot bathed in a citrus and almond dressing. There’s a choice between the eatery’s beloved deconstructed tiramisu and a Sorrento lemon cream with chocolate and strawberry for dessert. To whet Mum’s whistle, she can knock back unlimited pours of Prosecco, house white and red wine, Peroni beer, Aperol spritz, Campari spritz, mimosa, fresh juices and soft drinks. Lush!
