As the first restaurant in Hong Kong to specialise in Japanese noodles, Ippei-an Ramen & Dining was founded 40 years ago in Tsim Sha Tsui East and has long filled the gap for city gourmands to feed on authentic ramen.

With great fanfare, the comfort-food spot soon expanded to another location in Tsim Sha Tsui for Hong Kongers to enjoy the eatery’s umami broth, bouncy noodles, and sweet meat in a bowl.

Ippei-an specialises in Nagasaki ramen, serving diced vegetables and seafood cuts in a milky pork broth, and special Kumamoto ramen cooked with a tonkotsu base and char siu and wood ear mushroom toppings.

For four decades, the chain has served their classic menu of Canton, spicy seafood Nagasaki, and Nagasaki champon ramen bowls, amongst 19 different types of ramen, ranging from Hokkaido crab ramen to tsukemen.

Founded by Itsuko Shimada, the restaurant chain has since expanded to Causeway Bay with Ramen Jo restaurant, featuring modern takes on bowls of Japanese noodles.

Yakitori skewers, kushiage, gyoza, and rice dishes can also be enjoyed at Ippei-an.
