Steins at the ready! There are plenty of delicious Oktoberfest events to keep us entertained in Hong Kong this autumn, when the city is awash in German food, drink, and general merrymaking.
This year’s events include a one-night-only dinner at a Sham Shui Po dai pai dong in collaboration with Young Master Brewery, BaseHall’s annual transformation into a vibrant Bavarian beer tent, and the return of Kerry Hotel’s harbourfront Docktoberfest festivities.

Young Master Oktoberfest in Dai Pai Dong

For one night only in September, home-grown craft brewer Young Master is putting on an awesome East-meet-West Oktoberfest dinner experience at a long-standing favourite dai pai dong in Sham Shui Po. Get boozy with the seasonal Young Master Festbier, a traditional rich and toasty Oktoberfest Märzen, whilst you dig into meaty dishes including crispy dai-pai-dong-style German pork knuckle, wok-fried beef rump with black pepper and potato, and pork belly char siu. Each ticket comes with a limited-edition Young Master German-style beer glass, so you can extend the revelry at home.

BaseHall Oktoberfest

Young Master Brewery will also be partnering with BaseHall in October for the launch of the Central food hall’s fourth annual Oktoberfest, brewing their Festbier especially for the occasion. This raucous celebration has got it all: a keg-tapping opening ceremony, live DJ and oompah band belting out classic Munich bierhall tunes, stein-holding competition with prizes, and beer and German-inspired snacks galore.

Central Market Oktoberfest

Central Market’s Oktoberfest celebrations were so well received last year that they’re back – bigger and better – in 2024, teaming up with restaurants Chef’s Market and Stormies, Jebsen Beverage, Nina Hospitality, Lufthansa Group, and even TVB to deliver 17 evenings of Bavarian bliss. Returning by popular demand each night is legendary German band Die Notenhobler, rocking out alongside authentic Oktoberfest dishes that include crispy pork knuckle, German sausages, and apple strudel and brews by Löwenbräu and Franziskaner. If that’s not enough to keep you entertained, Central Market is hosting a range of beer-themed games, from the classic stein-holding contest to a quirky balloon-pumping challenge.

Kerry Hotel Docktoberfest

Kerry Hotel ’s massive harbourfront Oktoberfest event, held at the hotel’s cracking food hall Dockyard, is one we’ve been enjoying year after year. We love that the staff are clad in festive German attire, getting us in an Oktoberfest frame of mind right from the get-go. On the entertainment front, you can partake in a stein-holding competition and beer-pushing game and boogie to live music. Then when your tummy starts rumbling, pork knuckle, schnitzel, and German sausage platters are yours for the eating, paired with beer by Löwenbräu.

CulinArt 1862 x Heimat Oktoberfest brunch

Joining hands for another year are German-born chefs Stanley Wong of CulinArt 1862 and Peter Find of Heimat, who will be whipping up a refined Oktoberfest-inspired brunch in October. A total of 16 German dishes are set to be showcased on the menu, featuring headlining sharing mains of maultaschen (German ravioli), käsespätzle (cheese noodles), roasted chicken, and crispy pork knuckle. Dessert highlights include Black Forest cake and kaiserschmarrn (shredded pancake). What’s more, diners can knock back unlimited pints by historic German brewery Kaiserdom.

FRITES Oktoberfest

Back for a fourth year, Belgium meets Germany at this year’s Oktoberfest at FRITES, offering two sessions with five hours of free-flow German beer fun courtesy of Löwenbräu. You can top up with unlimited pours of Prosecco, house red and white wine, and soft drinks. To make sure you don’t leave on an empty stomach, FRITES will also be serving up à-la-carte Deutsch delicacies like pretzels (HKD38) by Bakehouse, Bavarian roast chicken (HKD355), and wurst and sauerkraut (HKD255). Performers, games, and prizes are on board too.

The Murray Oktoberfest

For some al-fresco BBQ biergarten boozing, it doesn’t get much better than The Murray hotel’s annual Oktoberbest, held over a nine-day period in September and October. Included in the ticket price are two hours of free-flow Erdinger draught beer and an assortment of German bites the likes of pretzels, sausages, grilled meats, and even the scrumptious Alsatian pizza known as flammkuchen.

Eaton HK Flower Years x Carlsberg Y2K Oktoberfest

For just one night in October, Eaton HK is joining hands with Danish beer brand Carlsberg to host a nostalgic Oktoberfest bash at the boutique Kowloon hotel’s acclaimed bar, Flower Years, with unlimited Erdinger, Sapporo, Guinness, and YAU beers on tap. Whilst DJs Angel B and Subez Yeti are on the decks with throwback tunes from the 2000s, you can join the “King of Fighter” drinking contest (if you dare). À-la-carte German snacks are also available for ordering, such as German bacon and onion pie, German chicken meatballs, bratwurst with sauerkraut and pretzel, and German butter cake.
