Conceptualised by chef Saito Chau, new restaurant Daai Zaak has landed in Hong Kong this month to bring China’s storied culinary heritage and regional recipes to a modern space.
The Chinese restaurant is inspired by the mythological figure of Chang’e, a moon goddess with the gift of immortality, and introduces recipes dating back hundreds of years. The goddess’ spirit enables these ancient dishes to come to life for diners.
Daai Zaak’s tasting menus match familiar flavours with dishes new to the Hong Kong dining scene, including prickled raw prawn with huadiao, braised shredded fish maw soup, steamed scallop in lotus leaf, and double-boiled milk with mashed taro.
Beyond food, a selection of Chinese and Western wines are available, as well as a prominent tea selection showcasing top Chinese tea plantations.
