For the past two decades, sen-ryo has been a go-to spot for Hong Kongers seeking out quality sushi at prices that won’t break the bank.

In honour of sen-ryo’s landmark 20th anniversary in the city, the Japanese brand has launched the Shokunin Festival, a celebration of Japanese oysters.

For nearly two months, from Feb. 13 till Apr. 2, diners can head to any of sen-ryo’s 17 branches around town to devour a selection of four premium oysters from Japan, when oysters are at their peak in the nation.

First up, the Monster of Reiwa oyster (HKD78/pc) is only available until Feb 26. This gigantic beauty from Iwate Prefecture is beloved for its melt-in-the-mouth texture and umami flavour.

The remaining three oysters, all from Hyogo Prefecture, will be up for tasting until Apr. 2. These include the tender and sweet Aioi oyster (HKD48/pc), the briny Samurai oyster (HKD48/pc) with its unique crunchy texture, and the Takagi oyster (HKD48/pc), known for its mineral-rich flavour.

Each oyster is garnished with Yamawa Junmai Ginjo sake jelly, which is specially brewed for pairing with oysters in order to elevate the flavours of the shellfish.
