Chef Akira Back is the latest celebrity in the global culinary world to pick Hong Kong for the next location of his dining empire, following chef Daniel Boulud’s announcement of Terrace Boulud arriving in January 2026.
With locations in Singapore, Seoul, Toronto, Paris, Dubai, Istanbul, Riyadh, Tenerife, and Aruba, Akira Back Hong Kong will be dishing out Japanese-Korean cuisine with an American twist, influenced by the chef’s States-side youth.
Designed by AB Concept, the interior design studio behind ARGO, Noi, The Chinese Library at Tai Kwun, and K11 Musea, the restaurant’s interior is designed with grand occasions in made, decorated with gold, silver, royal blue, and sharp silver.
The chef’s Akira Back namesake restaurant will be opening this September inside The Henderson, built on the world’s most expensive plot of land sold by the government to Henderson Land Development for HKD23.3 billion in 2017.
Akira Back Hong Kong will be joined by two dining concepts on The Henderson’s rooftop space Summit 38 in October 2025, Japanese kappou restaurant Hana no Kumo and restaurant-bar Peridot.
