Not all is lost in Hong Kong after a wave of closures kicked off this month, sometimes it takes a bit of patience to have some good news. And, that is, Dot Cod Seafood Restaurant & Oyster Bar is back!

Founded in 2000, Dot Cod once stood in the basement of Prince’s Building, flanked by bougie fashion shops and the downtown Central’s banks. It became a favourite for seafood-loving couples and finance workers.

Until their closure in August 2024, the Central restaurant served a wide range of local and imported seafood dishes, including fishy supplies from Australia, Europe, the U.S., and the U.K.

The news broke (I mean, we are breaking it right now) of the imminent reopening as hoarding plastering the ground floor of the renovated Tak Shing House next to MTR Central exit D2 came up. The hoarding featured the restaurant’s old logo and a hashtag reading ‘#dotcodreturns’.

We expect the seafood restaurant to reopen in the first half of this year. As always, we will have more news for you when we get it!
