In light of COVID-19, we encourage diners to take precautions when going out. You can also support your favourite restaurants by getting takeaway and delivery.
This Mother’s Day, let’s celebrate motherhood – truly the toughest job in the world – with decadent brunches, afternoon teas with a view, breakfast in bed and lots more foodie treats.
Afternoon tea at HUE (with Aromatherapy Associates perks)
A perfect outing for Mother’s Day, HUE is offering this lovely Destress, Relax and Revive afternoon tea set ($680/2; +$55/mocktail; +$90/cocktail) in collaboration with boutique aromatherapy brand Aromatherapy Associates (and it’s hard not to relax with that unbeatable view!). The set incorporates both the iconic flavours of Australia, which is the USP of the restaurant, as well as essential scents and ingredients from Aromatherapy Associates. Highlights include grapefruit-cured smoked ocean trout with seaweed crisp and whipped cod roe, warm rosemary and Gruyère cheese puffs, black pepper, rhubarb and sage cream pavlova and ginger-spiced pumpkin scones. All mums and their guests will receive a bespoke Aromatherapy Associates gift set of bath and shower oils to continue the relaxation at home. Available on weekends until Sunday, 9 May.
Free-flow brunch at 208 Duecento Otto (with a bouquet on the side)
Get ready to celebrate Festa della Mamma at 208 with a choice of free-flow brunch (from $448/person) during the day or the Italian restaurant’s à-la-carte menu at dinnertime. Brunch is a steal for a bevvy of Italian appetisers on the table for sharing paired with unlimited Pinot Grigio and Prosecco for two hours. Mum hopefully won’t be too tipsy to appreciate a table-delivered floral bouquet (from $700) courtesy of Blossom Minds as an add-on when booking online. Blossom Minds is an NGO that offers employment opportunities to young adults with special needs.
Fortnum & Mason’s tea hamper and sweet treats
Treat your Queen Bee to a delectable line-up of beautifully presented goodies from beloved British tea purveyor Fortnum & Mason. There’s the Mother’s Day tea hamper ($1,148–1,588), packed full of specially blended teas, champagne, preserves, chocolates and biscuits. A bevy of sweet treats, ranging from a pink Marc de Champagne truffle drum ($298), to violet biscuits ($198), to a specially blended Mother’s Day tea ($248) featuring black tea scented with rose and bergamot, is on offer for extra-enticing titbits. And we’d love to take a sip of Fortnum’s rosé sparkling tea ($268), an alcohol-free, pink-hued hibiscus blend with tropical fruits and a ginger accent against the backdrop of Darjeeling.

Charbonnel et Walker’s personalised gift boxes
We’re sure Mum will be tickled pink by British chocolatier Charbonnel et Walker’s illustrated Mother’s Day chocolate boxes, available in two versions: round and full colour or heart-shaped and monochrome, the latter designed so that children can personalise their gift by colouring (or scribbling, as the case may be) in the box themselves. The round version, the Milk & Truffle Mother’s Day Edition ($368 for 225g), includes the brand’s hand-rolled milk and truffle chocolates, while the heart-shaped Colour-My-Heart Pink Marc de Champagne Edition ($338 for 200g) features Charbonnel’s iconic champagne-laced milk chocolate truffles dusted with icing sugar. Order online or in-store from 30 April.

Brunch at Duck & Waffle (with free cocktail + choccy)
Duck & Waffle is offering two decadent brunch options for Mother’s Day. Mum can go à la carte (foie gras crème brûlée with brioche and marmalade, anyone?), or there’s a set brunch menu ($318/person) that comes with a selection of sharing starters, one main, one dessert and a choice of sparkling juice or soft drink. No matter which brunch option is chosen, all mamas will be gifted with a Ruby Rosé cocktail, made with Pampelle red grapefruit aperitif, rosé and soda, and a box of house-made chocolate truffles to take home.
Soulistic’s vegan Mother’s Day basket
Soulistic, a vegan tuck shop and event hospitality start-up well known for its house-fermented vegan kimchi, has created a fab gift bundle in partnership with local florist Greens Atelier and home and lifestyle shop Co Ninety. The Mother’s Day basket ($1,080) features a six-piece box of handcrafted vegan chocolates in a variety of flavours, a beautiful flower arrangement and an Apotheke Fragrance room mist or Co Ninety floral tea set + KINTO tea loop + 1 KINTO Cup. Order until 6 May, with pick-up and delivery available from 7–9 May.
Chilli Fagara’s homemade dumpling kit
For those mums who need a little help in the kitchen, we love Chilli Fagara’s wrap-at-home chilli dumpling kit ($128 for pick-up or $168 via Deliveroo), which is also a great way to get little ones cooking too. Each kit includes all the fresh ingredients needed to create 10 signature Chilli Fagara dumplings filled with marinated minced pork, along with illustrated wrapping (often the hardesr part) and cooking instructions. The Sichuan eatery’s beloved MA sauce is also included, but we recommend kids steering clear of this one – it’s made with numbing homemade Sichuan peppercorn oil. Pre-order until 1 May for delivery via Deliveroo or pick-up at Chilli Fagara from 2–9 May (order at least a day in advance).
If you choose to dine out at Chilli Fagara on Mother’s Day, all mums will receive a complimentary Mama Fagara cocktail, mixed with Beefeater pink strawberry gin, handmade Chinese flower tea, sugar syrup, tonic, egg-white foam and edible flowers.
Soil to Soul’s vegetarian Korean temple-food menu + afternoon tea
This one’s for all the health-conscious mamas out there. Contemporary Korean vegetarian restaurant Soil to Soul is now offering the Sunim Temple – The Taste of Enlightenment set menu ($780/person), featuring 24 tasting dishes designed by Buddhist nun Wookwan from original recipes in her celebrated cookbook Korean Temple Food: The Road to the Taste of Enlightenment. The restaurant’s farm-to-table concept uses vegetarian ingredients that are only home-grown or cultivated naturally, avoiding the five “forbidden pungent roots” of garlic, green onion, leek, chive and onion. To escape the crowds on Mother’s Day, this menu is served at weekday lunchtimes against the backdrop of Soil to Soul’s signature calming music.
Another lovely option at Soil to Soul is the Beyond Vegan – Spring afternoon tea ($498/2) in collaboration with local vegan and cruelty-free skincare brand SKIN NEED, offered daily until 10 May.
Dear Mom staycation at The Ritz-Carlton

Bellini breakfast at INK
Nothing screams Mother’s Day like a bellini, and INK’s Mother’s Day bellini breakfast menu ($380/adult; $190/child) has a stunning harbour-front backdrop to boot. For grown-ups, it includes a glass of Taittinger Brut Bellini, plus a mouth-watering selection of starters to share (from brandade croquette with chorizo vinaigrette to warm milk buns with butter and marmalade), a choice of main and something sweet to finish – arriving in the form of a jam doughnut and chocolate brownie combo. Available bright and early on Sunday, 9 May, from 9–11am.
Feast for Janani brunch at Chaiwala
Executive Chef Prabir Banerjee’s Mother’s Day brunch menu, Feast for Janani ($398/person; from +$180 for free-flow), sounds like a lot of fun for the whole family, and it’s available from 11:30am all the way until 5:30pm. Like all brunches at Chaiwala, there’s a spread of Indian street-food plates to start, followed by a selection of tandoori chicken, salmon and veg, family-style chicken curry (just like Janani would make) served with naan and basmati rice and classic gulab jamun for dessert. Kids can look forward to free-flow lassis on the house, which should help to cool all that spice.
