Adding some pizzazz to our post-CNY life, Johnnie Walker Blue Label – a blend of some of Scotland’s rarest premium whiskies, some of which originate from closed, or ghost, distilleries – has announced an exciting food and whisky pairing experience at pop-up master Test Kitchen in Sai Ying Pun.
The Johnnie Walker Blue Label Bothy is an immersive gastronomic experience, with Hong Kong the first stop on its global tour – a testament to Hong Kong and China’s weight in the world whisky market. Here in the 852, the Test Kitchen space will be reimagined into a remote Scottish cottage in the mountains, an escape from big-city life, complete with plants and flowers from Bonny Scotland.
Guests will have the once-in-a-lifetime chance to try four of the rare whiskies (one from each main whisky-making region of Scotland) that make up Johnnie Walker Blue Label, including the 1975 single-grain Cambus, shared right from the cask, along with three single malts. The Johnnie Walker Blue Label brand ambassador will be on hand to share the history of each whisky and talk more about the Blue Label background.
Most compelling for us are the food pairings involved, with each whisky matched with a complementary dish dreamed up by Le Comptoir Group chefs Noël Berard, chef de cuisine at two-Michelin-starred ÉCRITURE, and Nicholas Chew, executive chef of BIBO.
The Bothy will be open for both lunch and dinner for two weeks, from 18 February–2 March 2019, for select guests, but public bookings are only available for lunch and dinner on two days (23–24 February), with each session priced at $1,820 per person (to include a commemorative engraved bottle of Johnnie Walker Blue Label 75cl). With just 15 seats up for grabs each time, we can imagine the Bothy will be one hot ticket.
