GOKAN, Shingo Gokan’s newest bar and his first in Hong Kong, will be opening next month in Central, announced on Instagram yesterday (Jun. 19) by the Japanese mixologist and bar operator.

Shingo’s first venture in the city focuses on the five senses of sight, taste, smell, touch, and hearing. The bar is also inspired by five colours – blue, red, yellow, white, and black – to craft their quality cocktails.

GOKAN is set to open at 30 Ice House Street, the former site of the legendary FLY nightclub, led by bartenders Kaito Obha and Morris Chang of Shingo’s inner circle.

Chef Zaiyu Hasegawa of Den in Tokyo and chef Tsukasa Uraguchi will lead the food programme, based on the five traditional Japanese cooking methods of raw, simmered, grilled, fried, and steamed foods.

Founder of SG Group, a bar concepts group operating venues in Tokyo and Shanghai, Shingo has already opened Speak Low, Sober Company, The SG Club, and SG Low. It was reported by Foodie in mid-April  that Shingo was searching for bar staff to join his new Hong Kong venture. We cannot wait to visit Shingo at his latest bar!
