Yan Wo Dou Bun Chong specialises in just one item dear to many Hong Kongers’ hearts: soybean products. In fact, tofu-making is listed as an intangible cultural heritage of Hong Kong.

The long-standing Causeway Bay restaurant’s old-school menu features just three categories – soy milk, snacks, and desserts – and we’re here for the delicious nostalgia.

Head for a quick pre- or post-shopping pit stop at Yan Wo Dou Bun Chong and order a plate of freshly pan-fried tofu with fish paste (HKD24) or tofu puff with soy sauce (HKD24). Wash down your snack with a cup of hot or cold soy milk (HKD10–20) in a myriad of flavours, from almond and black sesame to coconut and ginger.

The shop’s dessert category is the most expansive of all, listing over a dozen varieties of soft and silky hot or cold tofu pudding (HKD16–40).

Yan Wo Dou Bun Chong also has a branch in Kowloon, located in Mong Kok.
