EAST Hong Kong hotel in Taikoo Shing has launched a new dark lager made with coffee and genmaicha green tea, crafted in partnership with local brewery H.K. Lovecraft.

Spent coffee grounds from Domain, the hotel’s café, and leftover bread from buffet restaurant FEAST are both used in the production process to flavour the beer product, with the latter employed to create a barley malt taste for the lager.

The genmaicha, a Japanese brown rice green tea product, is infused for 48 hours within the beer to sweeten it and drive its malty notes.

The Bao Beer dark lager is sold at rooftop bar Sugar in draught form for HKD108 and in canned form for HKD78 at Sugar, Domain, and FEAST.
