Since their opening in March 2023, Cafe Bau has achieved great popularity in Hong Kong’s restaurant scene for delivering exceptional service quality whilst committing to a unique principle: deliver a food programme consisting of local ingredients to Hong Kong.
The restaurant was opened in partnership between Michelin-starred chef Alvin Leung and Lubuds Group, founding the first fork-to-table concept in Hong Kong and spreading an eco-friendly message to enjoy sustenance grown locally in our city. More than 90% of the ingredients shared in the restaurant are sourced inside the city’s borders.
Cafe Bau is one of hundreds of restaurants and bars in Hong Kong that use inline, a booking management system used in Hong Kong and across Asia, to assist restaurant owners and chefs in increasing efficiency and ease of use for both operators and diners.
We sat down with chef Kasey Chan of Cafe Bau, winner of the Best Customer Experience Award at the Foodie Forks 2024, to explore how inline’s top restaurant operations platform has enabled diners to dine at the fork-to-table restaurant with great comfort and convenience.
What are you delivering in Hong Kong that no other restaurant has?
Cafe Bau is dedicated to deliver creative and innovative dishes inspired by Hong Kong flavours, using almost 100% locally sourced ingredients. We lead as the only farm-to-table experience in Hong Kong.
At Cafe Bau, you can discover how we showcase the unique flavours of locally sourced products and experience authentic Hong Kong spirits paired with our exquisite dishes.
Why have you partnered with inline to handle reservations and customer service?
We have partnered with inline to increase efficiency across the board, namely in leveraging their platform to minimise the managing time on table and bookings, allowing our floor staff to focus on the guest service during operation hours.
The system provides valuable insights to our operations team, recording guests’ dietary preference and tracking visitor frequency, which is an incredibly useful tool for our team to easily identify our loyal guests.
We can sync inline to multiple platforms like OpenRice, Dining City, and Restaurant Week to consolidate all bookings from various platforms on the same system, which allows us to be more efficient at service.
How does credit card payment benefit the business operation of Cafe Bau?
Encouraging and facilitating guests to pay for their dining experiences using credit cards allows us to run a smooth operation at Cafe Bau.
We work with inline to quickly process payments when guests pre-book lunch and dinner meals at Cafe Bau to ensure that they are booking with convenience and ease!
How has inline benefited your guest experience on the customer side?
The system allows us to easily record guests’ preference on food, times of visits, and details from previous bookings, which allows the team to easily keep track of our loyal guests to provide the best guest service to them.
Inline grants guests the freedom to make or cancel a reservation at any time and location which eliminates the need to call during hours. They are also able to preview the menu availability on the booking site, making it convenient for both the guest and our operations team to consolidate all details into one central system.
