The official announcement of the 2018 MICHELIN Guide Hong Kong Macau is still weeks away, but to drum up a little anticipatory attention, they have unveiled their Bib Gourmand selection. This category signifies an affordable three-course meal worthy of recognition that does not exceed $400 per person (compared to $300 last year). International Director of Michelin stated, ”The selection highlights the richness of the local culinary scene and the quality of Cantonese cuisine.“

Seventeen restaurants have been newly added to the list, with eight of these serving Cantonese cuisine. These include two shops that specialise in Cantonese soup noodles, Eng Kee Noodle Shop and Mak Man Kee, and one of our personal Foodie faves, Kwan Kee Clay Pot Rice. Sheung Hei Claypot Rice is also new on the list, along with Ju Xing Home, Yuet Lai Shun, Trusty Gourmet and Yung Kee. Japanese ramen shop Tsuta in Causeway Bay also made the grade as did Taiwanese spot Qing Zuo. Many will be interested to note that Samsen has made the list this year – this is Wanchai’s Thai street-food shop that has constant queues and loyal followers back from chef-owner Adam Cliff’s days at Chachawan in Sheung Wan.

The MICHELIN Guide Hong Kong Macau 2018 will launch its full guide on 30 November 2017.
