We are a pizza-crazed city. Similar to our New York friends, Rome buddies, Chicago pals, Naples mates, and Tokyo companions, Hong Kong does it right. In the absence of a strong local presence framing what makes a good Hong Kong tomato and cheese pie, we love to import our favourite recipes from abroad and spread the love.
From classic margheritas, to renditions of Italian and American recipes, to going crazy with local Cantonese flavours, we round up the best pizza in Hong Kong you can buy to satiate your cravings!
The best pizza spots in Hong Kong
Little Napoli
The only recommended pizzeria recognised in the MICHELIN Guide in Hong Kong, Little Napoli stands as one of the finest offerings of cheese and tomato in the city. Chef Gavino Pilo imports his heritage recipes to create a menu packed with richness using a four-tonne oven from Naples. The Margherita (HKD188) is where Little Napoli shines, showcasing bouncy cheese and tangy sauce, whilst the Funghi (HKD218) shows power with umami-rich charred mixed mushrooms pressed atop. Try the new Cosacca (HKD238) for a bite rich in salty anchovy and olive dollops, with a tangy, oregano-infused tomato sauce to match.

Mother of Pizzas
This Causeway Bay spot is always packed, and with a queue trailing down the block, Mother of Pizzas has cured a huge local fan base since opening. Employing wood ovens to bake the hand-stretched dough with San Marzano tomato sauce, this haven is perfect for the Italian basics, offering innovative toppings. The Summer of Love 1967 (HKD238/HKD428) is their most popular, cooked with chilli-infused honey, fresh pineapple, capicola, and Italian sausage. If lots of pepperoni is your MO, try the Pepperoni l’Americano (HKD198/HKD398), and if you’re a cheese fanatic, the Crazy Cheese (HKD238/438) should be your go-to for tasting four types of Italian cheese.

Fiata Pizza
Fiata comes in as Hong Kong’s top slice in the 50 Top Pizza Asia-Pacific rankings, and it shows! Run by southern Italian chef Salvatore Fiata, the aforementioned Soho powerhouse emulates the exact flavours of Neapolitan pizza. A visit to Fiata must be done with an order of the A’ Salsiccia (HKD195), packed with Italian sausage and onion cream, and the Estate (HKD195), holding Parma ham and burrata cream – both award-winning creations. The Diavola by Giovanni (HKD185) hits hard with spicy black pig sausage.

Sonny’s
An import from the celebrated Singapore store, proper New York-style pizza lands in Soho with dollar slices that are as authentic as it gets, alongside hot dogs and homemade ice cream. Six flavours of pizza are being sold at Sonny’s, either in slices (from HKD38) or 12-inch (HKD138) and 16-inch (HKD280) pies. We recommend ordering the classic Cheese (HKD38), Garlic Gang (HKD45), Kowloon Kid (HKD45), or Steak ‘N’ Cheese (HKD48). Maybe add in a Chicago dog (HKD68) courtesy of Honbo to drown in even more salty goodness.

Motorino
With one location around the corner from Fiata, Motorino Soho has challenged the title for the best pizza slice in the ‘hood for 10 years. Expanding to Wan Chai in 2014, pies are cooked in a custom-made Stefano Ferrara oven with a Neapolitan flair. We love the Soppressata Piccante (HKD208) for great spicy, salty bites. The Quattro Formaggi (HKD208) is both fragrant and nutty on the palate, whilst the Marinara (HKD158) delivers the perfect in-house sauce that’s sweet, tangy, and rich in umami.

FINI’s Italian American
FINI’S was the first pizza brand in Hong Kong to import the Italian-American style, celebrating the unique differences of both New York-style and New Haven-style slices. Going back to the basics, FINI’S Famous Mariana (HKD188/12”) is a pizza flavour not to skip over with a strong garlic and savoury tomato flavour. For either the 18-inch New York-style pizza or 12-inch New Haven thin-crust pizza, we recommend the Margherita (HKD208/HKD388), Brooklyn Special (HKD208/HKD388), and The Smash Burger (HKD248/HKD398) for bold flavours and spicy endings.

The BACI (HKD218), an umami-forward pie featuring earthy and tangy tones with crispy aubergine, pesto, olives, and black garlic, is a standout. (HKD50/HKD108/HKD198) brings the ruckus with meaty pork flavours matched with hot honey, and the Three Cheese (HKD48/HKD98/HKD178) grants a healthy serving of mozz, Cheddar, and Parm.
